Daytona Beach during the day is one of the most beautiful places in the world. Pristine beaches, verdant vegetation, and expansive coastal views of the picturesque Atlantic Ocean. Daytona Beach is much more than a beach. In fact, there is a long list of fun activities to do and places to visit, including:
However, when the sun sets on a beautiful day in Daytona Beach, it is transformed into something far less savory. Daytona Beach is crawling with bars and nightclubs dedicated to intoxication and sin. It is a well known fact that alcohol lowers inhibitions and causes people to become violent. Perhaps that is why Daytona Beach ranks in the top 2% of most dangerous cities in America. Over 800 violent crimes are committed in Daytona Beach every year. That is over 2 violent crimes every day. Worse, over 69 rapes are committed in Daytona Beach every year. That is one rape for every thousand citizens of the city. If you take into account that most rapes are committed against women, the number is even worse: one rape for every five hundred citizens.
How many of these crimes do you think are committed during the day, in broad daylight? Very few. The culprit is clear. Daytona Beach has allowed itself to go the way of Sodom and Gomorrah. It is a cesspool of sin and decadence. The bible says that “Wine is a mocker, strong drink a brawler, and whoever is led astray by it is not wise.” Proverbs 20:1. Well guess what? The entire city of Daytona Beach is being led astray by the false prophet of alcohol. Galatians 5:21 clearly warns us of the dangers of this false prophet: “Envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. We all know what fate awaits cities that refuse to repent and maintain their sinful ways. Daytona Beach must take the advice of Ephesians 5:18 to “not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit,” before it is too late.
All hope is not lost. Daytona Beach can still reform its sinful nightlife and make the nights just as safe, serene, and fun as the beautiful days in Daytona Beach that we all know and love.
